Bake & Decorate a Gingerbread House
The Gingerbread House kits that you find at just about any store, currently, make building and decorating a Gingerbread House easy. The kits come with pre-baked pieces, icing, and the candy.
Every year, I buy two kits at Michael's craft store. This year they are on sale for $8.99 and I used a 20% off sale price coupon. I buy two because for a little more money, both of my girls have their own house, which means NO arguing.
There is definitely some up front prep time with the kits.
As you build the house, there is some waiting time as the icing dries. It's a lesson in patience for little ones who are anxious to decorate the house. But building it is part of the fun too.
Finally, it's time to decorate.
A piece of candy for the house...a piece of candy for her...
Their masterpieces become the focal point of our dining room...until about February when they mysteriously disappear, usually unnoticed by then.
